Dear friends,

ALMA - Association for the Promotion of International Humanitarian Law and the Radzyner Law School of the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) would like to invite you to the upcoming session of the Joint International Humanitarian Law Forum. The session will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, 18:30, in room S4, Marc Pich Building, IDC Campus, Kanfei Nesharim St., Herzliya, Israel.

In this session Prof. Eugene Kontorovich will present his paper:

“Unsettled: A Global Study of Settlements in Occupied Territory”

"This Article provides a comprehensive, global examination of state and international practice bearing on Article 49(6) of the Fourth Geneva Convention. To better understand what Art. 49(6) does in fact demand, this Article closely examines its application in all other cases in which it could apply (including ongoing occupations, from Western Sahara and Northern Cyprus, to the Russian occupations of Ukraine and Georgia, whose settlement policies this Article is the first to document.)."

Prof. Eugene Kontorovich teaches at Northwestern University School of Law, and specializes in international and constitutional law. He is also a Director at the Kohelet Policy Forum.

Following the presentation, there will be an open round-table discussion.

Please note that the session will be conducted in English.

The meeting is free and open to the public. If you wish to attend the meetings of the Joint IHL Forum please register in advance via forum@alma-ihl.org.

Sincerely,

Ms. Shani Dann - Joint IHL Forum Coordinator
