Location of the International IHL Competition

Dear Participants,

The 2014 Jean Pictet Competition on IHL will take place in Sintra, Portugal, from March 1st to March 8th.
The winner of the National IHL competition will receive funding to attend the Jean Pictet Competition.

Dear Participants,
The fourth and final meeting of the ALMA IHL summer course will take place this Monday, Sept. 9th, at 16:30 in Bar Ilan University Law Faculty building 306 (above Greg Cafe) , room 110 (first floor).
This meeting will include a lecture on means and methods of warfare (Adv. Roi Ariav), and on international criminal law (Dr. Gilad Noam).

Full Schedule of the IHL Summer Course

Dear Participants,

The schedule of the IHL Summer Course is as follows:

Monday, Aug. 5th, 16:30-19:30, Tel Aviv University, Law Faculty, Room 202. Adv. Eitan Diamond of the ICRC - Presentation of the competition, and Adv. Tom Gal of ALMA - Introduction to IHL and Classification of Armed Conflicts.

Wednesday, Aug. 14th, 10:30-13:30, Sha'arey Mishpat College (Room 701). Dr. Hilly Moodrick-Even Chen and Adv. Ady Niv, who will discuss Conduct of Hostilities and Targeting.

Wednesday, Aug. 28th, 16:30-19:30, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Law Faculty, Room 119. Dr. Guy Harpaz- Law of Occupation, and Dr. Yael Ronen - IHL and Human Rights Law.

Monday, Sept. 9th, 16:30-19:30, Bar Ilan University, Law Faculty (room to be determined). Adv. Roi Ariav - Means and Methods of Warfare, and Dr. Gilad Noam - International Criminal Law.

ALMA IHL Summer Course - First Meeting

Dear Participants,

The first meeting of the Alma Summer Course on IHL will take place on Monday, August 5, between 16:30 and 20:00. The meeting will be at Tel Aviv University Law Faculty, room 202.

The meeting will include an introduction to the Competition by Advocate Eitan Diamond from the ICRC, a brief explanation by ALMA members on how to work with the bibliography and a lecture by Advocate Tom Gal on the classification of armed conflicts.

At the meeting the ICRC will be handing out relevant material for your training and you will have the opportunity to meet all the other teams, so don't miss it!

We look forward to seeing all of you there!
