New Op-Ed - The Disproportion in the Shehadeh Commission’s Proportionality Test

The deaths and injuries of innocent civilians provoked great criticism of targeted killing in general, as well as its specific use and the means used in the targeted killing of Shehadeh by the IDF. More recently, the IDF's use of targeted killings and surgical operations in the context of Operation Pillar of Defense, (which began with the targeted killing of Ahmed Jabari on 14.11.2012), is already starting to draw in the media criticism and claims of disproportionality.

A critical examination of the Israeli Commission tasked with such a legal review in the controversial Shehadeh targeted killing operation can be a timely and salient illustration.
